Chamoli (Uttarakhand) [India], July 8 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday held a review meeting with the Kumaon Commissioner, District Magistrates of Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh and other concerned officials regarding the excessive rainfall in the area, the damage caused by it and relief and rescue operations.
The review meeting was held through video conferencing from Gopeshwar (Chamoli).

During this, the Chief Minister directed the officials to expedite the relief and rescue operations, the departments to work in mutual coordination and be prepared for every possible situation.

CM Dhami also met the local people during his morning walk in Gopeshwar on Monday and took feedback from them about the development and public welfare works being done by the state government.
The Chief Minister said that the positive response and valuable suggestions received from the god-like people here inspire him to work dedicatedly for the development of the state.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami spoke to the District Magistrates of both Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts over the phone and took stock of the situation due to heavy rains in the Kumaon division.
The Chief Minister has directed both the District Magistrates to deploy the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in the affected areas and carry out relief work expeditiously.
The Meteorological Centre in Uttarakhand has predicted heavy rainfall over several parts of the state until July 10.
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places, with extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas in the Kumaon region.
“Thunderstorms with lightning and intense to very intense spells are likely on July 8-9 in the hills and plains of the state,” stated the forecast.
“Heavy rains have also been predicted in the Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, and Champawat districts for July 10,” according to the weather report.
Given the heavy rainfall alert, the state government has appealed to all residents to stay in safe areas and remain cautious due to the potential disasters caused by heavy rains. (ANI)
