Darrang (Assam) [India], September 14 (ANI): Noting that the double-engine government is committed to transforming Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the state is emerging as one of the fastest-growing regions in the country and will play a central role in building a “Viksit Bharat”.
Addressing a rally in Darrang, Prime Minister Modi said the new projects would further strengthen the government’s vision of turning Assam into a hub of connectivity and healthcare excellence.
“Our double-engine government is committed to transforming Assam into a hub of connectivity and healthcare excellence. These projects will further reinforce our dedication to achieving this vision. The entire country is today uniting and moving forward for the construction of Viksit Bharat. Especially our young companions. For them, a developed India is both a dream and a resolve. Our North East has a very significant role in the fulfilment of this resolve… 25 years of the 21st century have passed. Now the next part of the 21st century belongs to the East, to the North East,” the Prime Minister said.
Highlighting Assam’s rapid economic progress, PM Modi said the state has recorded a growth rate of 13 per cent, and it is a result of collaborative efforts, driven by the hard work of the people of Assam and the contributions of the BJP’s double-engine government.
“This impressive achievement is a testament to the resilience and dedication of its people. It is also the result of collaborative efforts, driven by the hard work of the people of Assam and the contributions of the BJP’s double-engine government… This is the reason why Himanta Biswa Sarma ji and his team are getting huge support from the people of Assam,” he said.
Calling upon people to embrace ‘Swadeshi’, the Prime Minister urged citizens to prioritise Indian-made products.
“I ask you to promise me that whatever you buy now will be ‘Swadeshi’. The definition of Swadeshi is simple for me; the company may have come from any part of the world, but the sweat should be of my country’s young soldiers. Whatever will be made in India, it should have the fragrance of my Indian soil,” PM Modi stated.
The Prime Minister also launched attacks on the previous Congress governments of the state, saying that they governed the state for decades and yet constructed only three bridges, while the BJP government has built six new bridges in just one decade.
He said, “For decades, Congress governed Assam, yet they constructed only three bridges over the Brahmaputra River in 60 to 65 years. In contrast, when you entrusted us with the opportunity, we built six new bridges in just a single decade. It’s only natural that you would appreciate our efforts and bless us with your support.”
“In just nine days, on the first day of Navratri, GST rates are set to drop significantly, bringing considerable benefits to the people of the country. This reduction will lead to a substantial decrease in the prices of cement, insurance, motorcycles, and cars,” he added. (ANI)
