Karnal (Haryana) [India], July 21 (ANI): Following the suspension of Internet and bulk SMS services in the Nuh district, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday that the administration and officials are on alert mode to address any kind of mishappening ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra.
CM Saini appealed to the residents of the Nuh to cooperate during the yatra so that it could be made successful.
Addressing media persons, on the suspension of the internet in Nuh on the occasion of Braj Mandal Yatra, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said, “We have alerted the officials. I want to appeal to the people that this is a religious event. We live in a society of harmony. The yatra that passes through is related to the Braj Mandal, who are the devotees of Lord Krishna. There should be cooperation during the yatra to make it successful. We have directed the administration to keep an eye on the event. We have alerted them to address any case of mishappenings.”
Earlier in the day, the Haryana government tightened security and ordered the suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra.
This suspension will be carried forward till 6 pm on July 22, 2024.
Following last year’s violence during the event, this decision came to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS.
However, it will not affect the commercial or financial interests of the state and the basic domestic needs of individuals.
All telecom service providers of Haryana are hereby directed to ensure the compliance of this order.
The order issued by the Haryana Government reads, “There is an apprehension of causing tension, annoyance, agitation, damage of public & private property and disturbance of public peace & tranquility in the district of Nuh. Whereas, there is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in district Nuh on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours.”
“In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumors through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS for facilitation and mobilization of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities,” reads the order.
