Every work offered in the auction is a testament to the diverse and evolving artistic landscape in India through the past decades. The auction is scheduled to be held on 23-24 April, 2025.

The finely curated catalogue is headlined by a stunning work from Tyeb Mehta’s diagonal series and also offers an eclectic selection of works by other luminaries, including M. F. Husain, S. H. Raza, K. H. Ara, F. N. Souza, Sadanand Bakre, Krishen Khanna, Ram Kumar, H. A Gade, Ganesh Pyne, Jogen Chowdhury, G.R. Santosh, K. Laxma Goud, Thota Vaikuntam, Bikash Bhattacharjee, Satish Gujaral, B. Prabha, Sakti Burman and Manu Parekh, among others. Talking about the auction’s catalogue, Manoj Mansukhani CMO AstaGuru, says, “The auction has been meticulously curated keeping in mind art collectors and enthusiasts looking to add impressive and highly sought after works by iconic modern masters. The catalogue spans various genres of art and showcases signature and rare works by artists who shaped the modern Indian art landscape as we know it today. We are pleased to be able to provide extraordinary works that will surely resonate with all collectors.”

The Untitled (Diagonal) work, Lot no. 18, from the oeuvre of artist Tyeb Mehta belongs to his famed Diagonal series. The oil on canvas work was executed in 1973 and represents the prime phase of Mehta’s artistic career. The Diagonal series is attributed with the discovery of Tyeb Mehta’s human figure formation, as well as his creative output at its epitome.

Lot no. 34 is an untitled work by M.F. Husain executed in oil on canvas in 1970. The lot belongs to a significant period in his career when his artistic language had fully matured, and his exploration of themes like movement, mythology, and human-animal dynamics had deepened.

Lot no. 23, Untitled (Nala Damayanti) by N.S. Bendre was executed in 1974 utilising oil on canvas. It showcases a mythological or symbolic theme, set in a dark forest, with two figures as the central focus.

F.N. Souza’s Untitled work, lot no. 56 was executed in oil, pastel & polyvinyl acetate on canvas, in 1963. It displays Souza’s signature use of colour and expressive brushstrokes to depict a dense and vibrant landscape.

Lot no. 13 is an untitled oil on canvas work by Ram Kumar executed in 1967. An impressive abstract landscape from the artist, it showcases his signature sombre palette.
